Arroyo Grande Strawberry Festival

Friday, May 27, 2005

Clear skies, rushing creeks, a slight drop in gas prices and the timeless lure of a spring getaway should make this the busiest Memorial Day travel weekend on record, both nationwide and here on the Central Coast.

Nearly 3.1 million Californians living south of San Luis Obispo plan on ditching town for the holiday - about 80 percent planning to travel by car, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California - and their second most favorite destination is the Central Coast.

Many of these visitors are expected to be at 22nd Annual Strawberry Festival in Arroyo Grande. Sunset Magazine named this festival "the place to be on Memorial Day Weekend!" As one of California's largest festivals, this family-style event brings together thousands of visitors and residents to enjoy activities, entertainment, art, craft and display booths, ethnic foods, and of course, scrumptious strawberry treats of all kinds!
