Introducing Arron Oberholser

Saturday, July 30, 2005

PGA Tour player Arron Oberholser was born and raised in San Luis Obispo, CA. and now lives in San Mateo, CA.

Arron is currently 54th on the 2005 PGA Tour Money List with $880,296 and has played in (19) events and made (12) cuts. Arron finished 38th on the money list for 2004 with total winnings of $1,355,433.

Last year, Arron followed his rookie season with a solid sophomore campaign, making over $1.3 million and posting a career-high three top-10s, including runner-up finish at the Wachovia Championship. He made 17 cuts in 23 TOUR starts. Arron shared the third-round lead with eventual winner Vijay Singh at the AT&T Pebble Beach
National Pro-Am after opening with three rounds in the 60s. Final-round 76 left him T4. Had a one-stroke lead heading into the final round at the Wachovia Championship. A closing 72 put him into a playoff where he lost to Joey Sindelar. Oberholser made his first start in a major championship tournament at the PGA Championship in Whistling Straits, WI, finishing T13.

The highlight of Arron's young career was collecting a $1 million first prize for his victory in the Shinhan Korea Golf Championship in late November - the first official PGA Tour event in Asia. The 29-year-old carded a 3-under 69 for a four-round total of a 4-under 284. [Read article here]

Arron began his rookie campaign in 2003 by making eight consecutive cuts including his only two top-10s. Earned 64 percent ($396,869) of his season's earnings during the stretch. In seventh career PGA TOUR start (fourth as a TOUR member), posted first top-10 of career with a T4 at the Buick Invitational. He held the
first-round lead after opening with a 7-under-par 65 on the North Course at Torrey Pines.

Prior to his PGA debut, Arron finished second on the Nationwide Tour money list in 2002 with $319,883. He led the money list for seven of the final eight weeks of the season until Patrick Moore's victory at the TOUR Championship. Posted first of two victories at the Samsung Canadian PGA Championship. Final-round 5-under-par 66 propelled him to a tournament record 16-under par 268, more than enough to move the former Canadian Tour member to his first career win. His second victory came at the rain-shortened Utah Classic. Shot a final-round 5-under-par 67 on Sunday after tournament had been shortened to 54 holes earlier that morning. Recorded three eagles in the second round on his way to an 8-under 64, only player on Nationwide Tour to accomplish feat in 2002. [Interview w/ Arron after Nationwide Tour]

In 1999, Arron was named Ericsson Canadian Tour International Rookie of the Year after winning twice. Set Canadian Tour record for largest margin of victory (11 strokes) during his win at the Ontario Open.
